Abstract:  Geosythetics are widely being used in soil improvement. It gives batter results then that we get from chemical stabilizer. As there is shortage of land, civil engineers frequently have to improve weak land.
In this project we will do number of experiment of natural weak soil available in Jollygrant and also will test them of different profile made by the help of geosynthetics.
Student will learn different aspects of basic and advance geotechnical engineering; they will also learn properties and usage of geosythetics.
By this project we will also obtain solution of major soil problem, which is being face or probable to occur in near future.

Abstract: Students should be learn how the road side accidents can be minimized on the site of plane and hilly area. This is a new technology which is applicable only a very few places in India. The targeted length for this project is 100 m and the working of this project is to be analysed in SRHU campus/ nearby places in hilly areas
  • Safety rolling barrier can be installed at both sides of roads, sharp curve areas, heavey traffic roadways, protruded sites, median strips.
  • Made of special chemical compound like hard rubber, Easy to maintain due to seperated barrels (recyclable), less cost to install.
  • Roller absorbs collision shock (shock energy > rotational energy), Front rail absorbs 2nd shock, Back rail absorbs 3rd shock, Metal pipe inserted in to strengthen post.
  • The cost for this project may be 20,000 or more

The project work comprises site selection, basic survey work for preparation of L-section, cross section and after that geometric design of highway will be made. The geometric design will be based on speed specifications of NH for the topography as per IRC.
The geometric design will consist important features such as cross sectional elements, sight distance considerations, and horizontal and vertical alignment details. In the project work it consist a minimum of two horizontal curve design, which also include design of super elevation, widening of curve etc.
In the short proposed length of highway it consist all physically possible design parameters. After the geometric design, pavement structural design will be made using CBR method. In CBR method pavement thickness for the proposed area will be calculated

Project for Polytechnic

Soil Exploration of different point of SRHU campus & nearby area
Faculty: Abhay Kumar Verma                                                                  Max Student: 5
Abstract: In this project we will find a number of properties at multiple points we create in SRHU campus as well as in nearby area. These properties are including Moisture content, Specific gravity, Relative Density, Shear Strength Properties, and Void Ratio etc. These properties will help us to create a thorough soil properties map of particular area. A recommendation of possible depth of foundation at different points will also be calculated.
As there is plenty of demand of soil exploring engineers in civil engineering consultancy. Student of diploma will learn various tests by performing test multiple times. Student will also learn calculating foundation depth and application of these index properties.

In concluding stage of this project we will obtain a thorough soil properties map which can be further use in many civil engineering works.

Abstract: The main objective of this project is to use the waste material which is also hazardous for the floura and fauna. If we use waste plastic bottles then it becomes less expansive and it is much effective for the earthquake prone areas
  • This is an effective solution for reusing the plastic.
  • Following advantages - Low cost, Non-Brittle, Absorbs abrupt shock loads - Since they are not brittle, there can take up heavy loads without failure, Less construction materialEasy to buildGreen Construction
  • The cost for this project may be 5000 or more, 2 labours and the related equipments  required for the soil excavation
Utilization of Plastic Waste In Flexible Pavement Design
Faculty: Mr. Jaibeer Ramola                                                                 Max Student: 5
The main objective of this project is to use the waste material which is also hazardous for the floura and fauna. If we use this additive then it becomes less expansive and the strength of pavement will be remain same.
  • In flexible pavement construction plastic coated aggregate showed better binding property. It has less wetting property and voids.
  • Various Advantages - Better binding property, higher softening point, flash and fire point which means it can withstand high temperature and suitability in tropical region, lower penetration and ductility value which means it can withstand higher load.
  • The cost for this project may be 5000 or more
Utilization of Marble slurry in cement concrete”
Faculty: Mr. Akash Deepak                                                             Max Student:5

Abstract:The main objective of this project work is to know how much strength is gain by concrete if there is used a marble slurry by replacing the sand. Through this work we can also use of conservation of natural resources. By the help of this marble slurry which is a waste material can minimize use of sand upto 30% by replacing it.Air pollution is the most hazardous impact of the marble industry. Water pollution is also increase by different operations such as cutting, cooling and finishing. The wastage of marble slurry are responsible for many types of environmental problems. Normally there are only 30% of recovery of main product and 70% of wastage. This slurry is only consume in construction industry at a large level. Reuse of hazardous waste material.
Marble is a metamorphic rock, which is created when tremendous pressure and heat is applied to a mass of rock. It contain limestone, gypsum, chalk. It can also replace sand cause of it have fine particles. If the soil required to compact and takes so much time for compaction then it may cause it have fine particles and they are cohesion less like sand.
It becomes concrete is less expansive cause of use of waste material. Students will learn all types of experiments which are related to concrete technology. It can be easily use for the M 20 grade of concrete. Size of the particles of this slurry in between 4.75 to 75 micron hence we replace sand and use of it upto 30%.

Stabilization of soil using Marble Dust”
Faculty: Mr. Akash Deepak                                                             Max Student:5
Abstract: The main objective of this research is to define the depth of pavement of a highway if there is the soil found is highly cohesive. Then we can design the depth of pavement by stabilize that soil. Firstly from 5 places of nearby area (range 5 km) students collected the soil sample. By mixing it in some proportions such as 0%, 2%, 5%, 10% and 15% the student will conduct some laboratory tests. The following laboratory tests to be conducted
  • Specific gravity
  • Consistency limits (Plastic limit, Liquid limit, Shrinkage limit)
  • Optimum moisture content
  • Maximum dry density
  • Free swell index (Water and Kerosene Oil)
  • Triaxial test (Strength test)
  • CBR test
By calculating all geotechnical properties and characteristics of the contaminated soil we can use it at that places where the soil is highly cohesive. By performing the CBR test we can design a depth of pavement for a highway. Students will learn all types of basic geotechnical experiments.

In the project work contour map for the area will be made with suitable method as per the requirement of the topography. And all possible application of the contour map will be made for the proposed area/ site.

Use of rain water and waste water for irrigation purpose”
Faculty: Mr.  Manish Kumain                                                             Max Student:5
Abstract
This project mainly aims to utilize the rain water and waste water for irrigation purpose for area where rainfall occurs less frequently or drought prone area. For the proposed site first step is to calculate total precipitation in the nearby areas of the proposed site with suitable method, where rainfall occurs frequently with a maximum rate.
Make use of rain water harvesting or any other suitable method to store the rain water under the ground. The total storage capacity is to be calculated based on amount of precipitation and total amount of waste water produced from the area.
Total amount of waste water produced from the area will be calculated and treatment will be made according to the standard. Then Suitable arrangements will be made to collect treated waste water in collection tank and after that by suitable methods the water utilize for irrigation purpose.
